HANGMAN WHEEL OF FORTUNE
Adapted from www.eslcafe.com
You will need: Photocopied Japanese yen. 3 dice. A price list saying what each roll is worth (ie. between 3 and 18 Example: 3=100yen, 4=200yen, 5=500yen, 6 and 9= miss a turn, 11 and 15 = bankrupt and so on) DOWNLOAD THE PRICE LIST BELOW.
Write a sentence on the board, hangman style. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 。 「きょうはげつようびです。」.You may give a clue if you think the students may find the phrase difficult. The first student rolls the three dice. They roll a 10. Look on the sheet. 10 = 3000 yen. They then say a hiragana. If they say う, then you write on the board. _ _う_ _ _ _ う _ _ _ 。 The student will then receive 6000 yen from you as they have two う's at 3,000 each. If someone says a letter that has already been said, then they forfeit their turn. If someone knows the whole sentence, they must put up their hand and say 「こたえます」. If they are right, give them 10,000 and let them start the next round once you have put a new sentence on the board. If they roll a 11 or 15, then you take all their money back - bankrupt! The winner is the team with the most cash at the end of 10 or so words/phrases.
